Nutty Buddies

As great as Paris (and Chicago, and wherever else I was last month) were, it's good to be home and back to my regular routine: New York Times-thank you, God, for home delivery-coffee with Bailey's, and breakfast with Paul.

This American Life had a program this morning on family legends. Part One was about someone's crazy Aunt Mary. We all have one, don't we? My Aunt Mary used to buy boxes of Little Debbie snack cakes and very carefully cut them in half. Mmmmmm, Devil Squares....

The half-boxes were then gift-wrapped and given to favored grand-nieces and nephews as Christmas presents. Unless, of course, you were lucky enough to get a crocheted poodle toilet paper cover.

On tap today: a long-delayed ride on the Katy Trail. Dinner with Drew and Charles and Drew's mom Joan, who's just back from a month in St. Petersburg. Maybe a late viewing of Six Feet Under. A proper Sabbath, I guess.

Speaking of the Sabbath, here's a nice rant on Christian hypocrisy in Virginia from The Angry Liberal....
